Yale Interfaith Event April 21

Greetings!
On Saturday, April 21st, please join the students of the Yale Divinity School and the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies for 'Interfaith Solidarity on Global Climate Change', an interfaith climate change awareness gathering on the Yale Divinity School Quad (409 Prospect St, New Haven). We invite all interested individuals and religious communities to gather in an expression of shared concern about global climate change, and to show our support of one another aswe work together to address this and other environmental issues. Come willing to learn and share - leave feeling empowered! Individuals and delegations from religious communities are encouraged to bring a banner or other symbols of their community so we may recognize the diversity ofthe faith-based environmental movement. Families (including leashed pets) are welcome! Before the event officially kicks off at 12, attend a FREE one hour sustainable energy workshop with Carol Wilson, energy consultant and instructor of theInterreligious Eco-Justice Network's 'This Old House of Worship' program. The workshop will be from 11 AM until 12 noon on the Quad. At 12 Noon, we will officially start the event by gathering for a prayer andtime of reflection on global climate change. Immediately following the prayer,we invite all to join us for an informal information exchange among faith-based leaders - clergy and lay, environmental activists and organizations from theYale and Greater New Haven communities, and university students. At 1 PM we'll host a general Q and A session - all questions welcome. Plus, we'll have activities for kids, and LIVE MUSIC by the Yale Klezmer Band! Interfaith/Ecumenical Climate Change Gathering

Event Description:Yale Divinity School invites delegations from religious communities to gather in expression of shared concern about climate change. Assembly at 11am; reception and very brief program following. Optional workshops before and after by experts in congregational organizing and the science of climate change. Delegations are encouraged to bring a banner and other symbols of their community.

Location:Gather in the central Quad of the Dinity School at 409 Prospect St, New Haven. (Rain site, the Great Hall, above the main entrance.)

Directions:From I-95 North or South, take I-91 North towards Hartford. Take Exit 3, Trumbull St. At the end of the ramp go straight on Trumbull Street. At your 5th light, take a right onto Prospect Street. The Divinity School is about one mile on the right, #409.

As the issue of global climate change has drastically altered political, social and personal agendas around the world, creative ways of addressing this, and related environmental issues, have emerged. The four panelists - Professor Stephen Kellert (FES), Professor Willis Jenkins (YDS), Professor Mary Evelyn Tucker and Professor John Grim (Bioethicist in Residence at Yale),with moderator Professor Margaret Farley (YDS) - will discuss the ways in which religion, spirituality, and ethics have and will contribute to the environmentalmovement and the fostering of human-nature relationships.Come join us for an exciting and historic opportunity to explore therelationship between religion, ethics, and environmentalism, with five of Yale's most prominent voices on the topic.
